Alexis T. Jones, M. A., CCC-SLP is Founder and CEO of Adaptive Accents where she specializes in Accent Coaching and Executive Communication Coaching. She is a 2004 graduate of the University of Georgia, where she received her Bachelor of Science in Education in Communicative Sciences and Disorders, and a 2006 graduate of the University of Memphis where she completed her Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology.

Afterward, she attained certification in Compton PESL (Pronouncing English as a Second Language) Accent Modification Training at the Institute of Language and Phonology in San Francisco, CA in 2007.

Alexis has formerly served in K-12 schools, clinics, skilled nursing, and rehabilitative and assisted living facilities as a clinical Speech-Language Pathologist, assessing and treating a broad range of speech, language, voice, swallowing, and cognitive disorders.

However, fueled by her rich Gullah heritage and curiosity for creole languages, regional dialects, and accents - Alexis steered her career in a different direction. She created Adaptive Accents in 2012 primarily to focus on helping clients break down communication barriers by enlarging their communicative repertoire, while maintaining a sense of self, identity, and culture.

In the latter half of her career, Alexis has traveled the globe as a corporate Speech-Language Pathologist, coaching a spectrum of individual contributors to C-Suite level executives, focusing on awareness, effective voice usage, presence, articulation and pronunciation, public speaking, speech rate reduction, interview/Q & A strategy, and active listening. She also serves emcees, engineers, healthcare professionals, podcast hosts, collegiate and professional athletes, and domestic and global corporations seeking professional development services for employees.

Alexis creates customized curriculum for organizations and serves as a seminar facilitator for conferences, company retreats, and special events. She believes it is her duty to equip clients with the tools necessary to flourish in their personal and professional environments.

Adaptive Accents is where passion, purpose, and profession meet for Alexis, and she dedicates her career to helping clients achieve their definition of communicative success. It is her mission to educate clients and the world that accents and dialects are not deficient—they are simply different.
